Preseason Update
Well, pre-season commenced Monday 9th Jan, with a huge bang - a warm 38 degrees, and a 2km time trial greeted the player group. Some really impressive times, considering the conditions were not ideal and it was clear players were doing their own running over the Christmas break.
A host of guys had run the 2km under 8 minutes, with the best time being 7:11. Our 2nd 2km timed run will be in Feb.
The players have been doing a mountain of work, building up their fitness and skills and we will continue this throughout the season. We changed the plans and scenery from a Friday night Davilak session to a Saturday morning beach session, which was really well attended and again the players powered through the running work.
Yes, fitness will be a huge part of my game plan and the boys are tackling it head on.
I've introduced a few new things: doing the little things better for longer, being accountable, ball movement, and encouraging and supporting team mates, with discipline being top of the order.
We will be focusing on structures through February building up to Intraclub and Scratch matches.
Our Supporters will see a difference in our playing style.
Again, January has brought new faces to every session, and we are all 1, and really getting behind each other. Our new recruits are going really well, our returning players look fitter and the whole group is hungry, hungry for finals footy. The standards being set are high and Our Coaching group are pushing players to get to the next level.
The support I am getting from Steve (Ressies Coach and Snr League Assistant), Nathan (Colts Coach) Matty (Ladies Coach) and the Players has been awesome.
We are all in it together and for each other.
There's no 'I' or 'me' it’s all about the 'team'.
We will have a 'Team 1st' mentality.
In 2023 I will not accept good, and Our Player Group knows that 'good is not good enough'
